The Maxwell Fernie Trust concert at St Andrews in the City Palmerston North July 2nd was a great success with nearly 100 patrons attending and just over $500 was donated to the work of the Maxwell Fernie Trust. There was a well-deserved standing ovation for Thomas Gaynor the first recipient of the Maxwell Fernie Trust award for his impeccable playing.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL ORGAN MONTH (SEPTEMBER)

Saturday 10th September 10am – midday ‘Explore the organ day’ St Andrews in the City Play the Woofyt, Organ tours, Hands-on playing, Organ pipe making, DVD presentations. A fun day for all ages- do encourage any young people you know to come along!

DAILY ORGAN RECITALS @ St Andrews in the City

Celebrating National Organ Month local organists will be presenting lunch hour recitals at St Andrews in the city from 12th to 16th September. All concerts commence at 12.15 and are around 30 to 35 minutes.

FEILDING CELEBRATES

Sunday 25th September 2.30pm at St St Johns Anglican Church.

Friends of the Lawton Organ are organising a variety concert which will include lighter items to both entertain and demonstrate the versatility of their instruments. Gold coin donation requested.

Douglas presents a really interesting programme opening with a bracket of early 20th century pieces including a march by the virtuoso Edwin Lemare, an arrangement of a waiata dating from about 1918 by Maewa Kaihau subtitled ‘Whisper of Heaven’ and Ketèlbeys’ ‘In a Chinese Temple-Garden. A lively Bach trio leads to a concluding bracket of César Franck works including the Pastorale, Cantabile and his monumental Piéce Heroique.
