Nicholas plays a short recital on the Croft pipe organ.  The centrepieces will be Bach's mighty profession of faith - the "Praeludium pro organo pleno" from the Clavierubung III and Herbert Howells's gentle and hopeful Psalm Prelude (Op. 32, No. 2), based on Psalm 37. v. 11: " But the meek-spirited shall possess the earth, and shall be refreshed in the multitude of peace" Flor Peeter's lyrical and haunting "Aria" will also be included, as well as a potted selection of delightful gems from Vierne's "24 pieces in free style".

The recital will be followed by afternoon tea, and the Annual General Meeting of the Auckland Organists' Association will be held at the church

Nicholas Forbes is one of New Zealand's most versatile and dynamic young musicians. Originally from Christchurch, he began studying the piano at a young age and later became a chorister and eventually sub-organist at Christ Church Cathedral. He was the organ scholar at Christ’s College and following school, spent a gap year teaching music at Canterbury Cathedral in the UK, before returning to Christchurch where he became Director of Music at College House.

Currently, he is completing a music degree at Auckland University, specialising in historic keyboard with James Tibbles and conducting with Uwe Grodd and Karen Grylls, under whom he is a student conductor and member of both the University Chamber Choir and National Youth Choir. Nicholas is also the organist at King's College and accompanist for the award-winning St Cecilia Singers at Diocesan School. He has also worked regularly as a tutor and repetieur for various local schools and musical productions. Last October, he conducted the University's production of Albert Herring.  Nicholas hopes to eventually continue his studies overseas and eventually pursue a career as a conductor.
