Description
A celebration by Dr Christopher Hainsworth (Bezier Cathedral) of the musicians of Britain and others who “walked upon England’s mountains green”, with special mention of this year's Birthday Boys: Haendel (d.1759), Purcell (b.1659), Haydn(1809) and Mendelssohn (b.1809). Presented by organist Christopher Hainsworth visiting from France.
Also featured are Beethoven with his Variations on “God Save the Queen”, Pleyel with his Variations on a Scottish air, Elgar with an extract from “Poms and Circumstance” among other favourites as well as New Zealand composers Lilburn, Barnett, Stott and Webster with short entertaining pieces.
