Well-known to NZ organ fans, British organist Robert Costin performs Alexandre Guilmant’s First Organ Symphony. The concert will be conducted by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s permanent guest conductor Garry Walker and also features Elgar’s First Symphony.


Back in 19th century France, Alexandre Guilmant was a superstar and attracted crowds of thousands to his concert performances. His First Organ Symphony is full of vivid colours
and sparkling orchestrations.

The pipe organ, the largest in New Zealand, was rebuilt by the firm of Klais Orgelbau and the new organ inaugurated in March 2010.

Parking available in the Civic car park, beneath adjacent Aotea Square - the cost for evenings and weekends is a flat rate. Also, after 6pm parking in neighbouring streets is mostly free although the number of spaces is limited.
