Whakatane people will be able to witness the grandeur, complexity and craftsmanship of building New Zealand's largest musical instrument in a once-only showing at Cinema 5 on The Strand of "Restoring the Splendour - The Klais Organ in the Auckland Town Hall. The 62 minute showing starts with the original grand 1911 Edwardian romantic organ and what happened to it in a major baroque-style rebuild in 1970.  It moves on to the conception of the new organ, its meticulous construction by the master craftmen of Klais Orgelbau of Bonn, Germany and finally its installation in the Auckland Town Hall.
Tickets, adults $11 and children $9, are available from Cinema 5.  Seating is limited so booking is advised. Proceeds will go to the Auckland Town Hall Trust's active educational programme.
The showing is presented by ORGANZ (The NZ Association of Organists) to mark National Organ Month..
