Douglas Mews recital on the John Avery organ
1779
Douglas is a master's graduate in organ and harpsichord from Auckland University, has studied in the Netherlands and is currently lecturer in organ at Victoria University.
The 'Muse's Delight' is an 18th century publication containing songs by various composers, including Handel and John Stanley, whose 300th birthday we celebrate in 2012. Douglas Mews will present some of their suites, concertos and voluntaries on 'an ideal instrument, the 1779 Avery organ'.

Organ: Johannes (John) Avery, 1779. 1 manual (split keyboard), 6 ranks. Restored by Goetze & Gwynn to original specification, this organ is unique in New Zealand.
